Ok, this is actually a really lame excuse to be a bit self promotional, sorry!
I've started doing pin ups and stuff for some of my favourite cult type films, you can have a look at them here, along with some other artwork.
Anyone got a favourite (or several) cult film? I'll start off with Frightmare (it's a horror one though, is that ok on this discussion board John?), a grimy 70's british film about canibalism by Pete Walker who did some great grubby exploitation films, really bleak but with a nice dark sense of humour. I wrote a bit more about it here.
Cheers John, old school Cybermen are where it's at.
Wickerman is just an outstanding film. I've avoided the remake so far but I'll inevitably watch it, and hate it:)
Not seen Cemetery Man, John(K) is that the Italian directed one?
Boy and His Dog is brilliant, I've got a real soft spot for post-apocalyptic films, which is why I love Omega Man too, not a patch on the book though;) Both those are on my to draw list.
Vanishing Point's good, you seen Electra Flide in Blue? Really good cop/road movie.
Ooo, Re_Animator is genius, good call. Limited reserves of cash are all that's stopping me replacing the old DVD with the new special edition. I did swear off the zombie drawings for a while but Re-Animator goes on the list - did you see my Return of the Living Dead pic?
Cheers Garen, should've guessed you'd go for a H Rider Haggard story:)
Big fan of Quatermass John, reckon I'd go with Quatermass Xperiment as my favourite, but really, they're all brilliant.
Cheers Tony, most people like that one cos of Cap's boot soles.
Ah Trancers, fine zombie/Terminator hybrid/rip off, Jack Deth's a dude... Dollmans for squids though ;)
Basket Case is pretty good, but Braindamage is the one, gotta love a monster that looks like a blue trippy poo!
Yup, lot's of good stuff to add to the list.
I reckon the winner of the 'Best Title - Worst Movie' award must go to Troma with their Surf Nazi's Must Die. Fortunately MVC let me return it, with the excuse that it had a 'faulty plot and acting'.
Yeah, I had high hopes for Night of the Bloody Apes, didn't really feature any apes, barely any blood and not much night time either. Worst most promising film for me though was Shockwaves; nazi zombies rise from a watery grave and.... wander about and drown a couple of people? Dullsville.
I'll add my vote for the original Wicker Man. Also, the original Halloween and the original Planet of the Apes. I like Hammer Horror Dracula movies too.
