Floods

Hi everyone,

I was watching the news via the internet (no tv) and I am still amazed at the extent of these floods. I was thinking about all the people who are effected by it all, especially those who have no insurance against this and the families. I thought about an idea to raise some money for a fund to help (every little helps), using our talents.

The idea is simply this. A comic to be sold to raise money and awareness. But I need your help. Would any of you be able to produce a one page story or illustration in which ever format you like?

The only requirement is to use the theme "Flood".

If you are interested and want to get involved, let me know and we can start getting it off the ground.

Let me know what you think. Once we get it started we can then start promoting it to the various news agencies to gain more awareness!

UPDATE: So far I have had response from John Freeman (e-mail), Chris Lynch and Shane Chebney to lend a hand. If you would like to get involved, maybe we can open up the subject matter to a general 'ecological' disaster debate. But, remember, floods are going on in India too... and as the Sun's solar activity is increasing in this current 11 year cycle, things could get worse! There's alot of research available out there, and you don't have to follow the 'majority' view from those blaming 'footprint'. This is a debate, let's show an alternative viewpoint too... There's six sides to a die, not just the two or three others want you to only see!

Great idea, Adam: I just got an appeal for help through the door from the Red Cross, too, so perhaps there's some synergy there. I'd be happy to write a one pager for this if someone's up for drawing it.

I'd love to contribute on writing duties as my pencils are that of a 2yr old with down's syndrome. I remember a friend was interested in this here in the states when we had hurricane Katrina. I'm in if you'll have me.

Thanks for the feedback everyone. Everyone is welcome to contribute... this is a worldwide problem and as we are a global community, what happens to one country will effect another. I'll keep a list. Think about your idea and let me know your plans. I will help where I can for those who need an artist or writer, as well as this network to spread the word to others. The sooner we can get some pages together, the sooner others will see it taking shape and getting involved. I have one page ready to go... 'GLOBAL WARNING' :-)
