downthetubes British Comics Forum

A group for fans of British Comics

Am I the only one here making comics for the web? Or is everyone else sitting around and being very British, not wanting to be the first to help themselves to the biscuits in the middle of the room? Either way, since John has gone to all the trouble of setting up a webcomics area in this forum, it seems rude not to use it, so ...

There are a number of comics at my Broken Voice Comics website although the three main titles are:

Shades

UK based action adventure, proving that not all super heroes live in New York. Art by Harsho Mohan Chattoraj.

Hunted

A story of vampires showing our favourite creatures of the night in a whole new light. Art by Kyri Kyprianou.

The Spires

High fantasy with just a hint of politics instead of a Tolkienesque forest. Guaranteed elf- and goblin-free, too. Art by Fabrizio Pacitti and coloured by Bill Key.

All three comics are currently being adapted for download to mobile phones through ROK Comics. (Thanks, John!)

Thanks, Paul.

Hunted was an odd one for me. Someone else suggested I write a story "with vampires and demons" (they were very into HellBoy at the time!) and my initial response was to say no. With Shades and The Spires, I knew from the very beginning how I intended to make them different from most other super hero and fantasy stories (respectively). With Hunted, however, it took me a lot longer to see how I could put a new twist on the vampire genre.

Anyway, I think I managed it in the end and Kyri's artwork is so stylish, it suits it perfectly. (Not that I'm biased, you understand!) Thanks again,

D.

Hunted is my fav of the BVC titles. I like the styling and the pacing of the script. Have you seen Ligeia over on ROK Comics? Rodrigo Ricci is doing a smashing job. Here's a sample panel...

Hi David,

I assume you've already taken advantage of Myebooks?
