That's great news! It's nice to see a steady, reliable hand at the helm. Particularly someone who listens to the readerbase. I'm enjoying the Titan books - I have quite a few of them, although not all, something that I'd need to rectify very soon...

Spaceship Away (a three times a year, full colour, glossy magazine) started out as a way to get a newly created 1950’s ‘old Eagle’ style Dan Dare strip story it didn’t stop there!

I agree: CI should never be an SFX clone. There are are several model collector magazines that might offer an alternative template though?

I've e-mailed publisher Peter Boyce again this morning - for the third time since his denial the title had been cancelled which we ran a news story on back in September. My latest attempts to get a response follow discovering the Comic Internation...

Also try and find someone to read through your scripts as they'll be better able to spot any typos and other problems.

About Me:

I'm a comics and features writer who has worked in comics and magazine publishing in the UK for over 20 years. My British comics news and features web site, downthetubes.net, web site features news about British comics and a comics writing guide.

I'm working part time for ROK Comics on their Indian comics platform and other mobile comic related projects and as an editor for some of Titan Books print British comics collections, as well as a few other projects for other companies.

ROK Comics enables comics creators to create or adapt their strips for mobile phones, which can be delivered worldwide through WAP subscription and single downloads -- potentially reaching a much bigger audience than that for web-based comics. Unfortunately the parent company was hit hard by the credit crunch and development there has been scaled back, until very recently (August 2009).

I've written comic strips for various companies such as Marvel, Fleetway, Lucky Bag and commercial companies seeking to use comics as a promotional device. Currently I'm writing a science fiction strip, Ex Astris, for the British SF comics magazine Spaceship Away.

I've also edited various magazines including the official Babylon 5, Doctor Who, Star Trek and Star Wars Magazines.

Favourite British Comic
Sparky
Favourite TV Shows:
Doctor Who, Star Trek, Heroes, Smallville, The Clangers, Catweazle... oh let's be honest, I'm a sucker for SF and fantasy TV

downthetubes Events Calendar

I've now set the downthetubes events calendar on the blog and web site so people can add events. (This isn't the same calendar that features on the downthetubes Ning forum)

- The events calendar is on the right hand side. Grab the events box 'scroll bar' and navigate to the bottom of this, where you can see an "Add Event" button. (You can also find th… Continue

I am compelled (by Glenn Fleming) to impart the following: 'The abbreviation 'Dr Who' is in fact entirely correct in context when discussing the series which ran in TV Action, as this abbreviation was frequently used. Also, to have used the full term 'Doctor' on the cover of Crikey! #12 would have effectively obliterated Jon Pertwee's nose, which would be a crime against humanity'.

And when are you going to give us an interview?
Nice forum by the way. I've just had a look around but am too zonked by flu to say anything remotely useful.

Entirely understandable John-happy to be here, though how much I can participate depends on pressures of work.

Not to worry, it is a popular, rapidly expanding discussion on a range of different subjects and it is tricky to squeeze it into the limits of a discussion board (or anything online this side of a video conference). So a bit of twekaing is going o be required to keep everything together. I looked it over and it all seems to be keeping the debate focused, which can only be A Good Thing.

Thank you!
Methatron II is a print title. I took down the gallery for updating a few weeks ago (which is announced in the news section) but then I lost my internet connection, which delayed it all. I will attend to that within the next few days.
