The Macbeth graphic novel from Classical Comics is finally nearing completion. I finished colouring the artwork yesterday. Jon Haward has certainly made me work for my money on these last few pages, which have a huge cast and a suitably epic quality to them. Gary Erskine also pitched in to help with the inking on the last pages and will be fully inking Jon on the next project of his - The Tempest - which I'm also down to colour and letter.
It's been a slog at times getting the 121 page…

Hi Everyone,
Been a while. I have just recovered from this horrible virus - I am close to the finishing with FLOOD. If anyone is still interested in drawing an illustration for it please email me. The final deadline is 31st January. This is a last call out for anyone still interested. Thank you to everyone who has sent me pages ;)

Ok, I'm still going nutso over the Dark Knight trailer but there are a few other things to be excited about.
Has just posted an interview I did with them. Comicbrew is a pretty cool site that obviously caters to the comic fan but also throws in other geek fun like movies, games and TV. They have also done interviews with fellow DWP alumni like Bob LeFever (IDW Transfor…

Had a good time at Birmingham. There was a point on the Saturday afternoon when I thought I'd be twiddling my thumbs all weekend, but things perked up when Nigel Kitching, Richard Elson and got together with a load of Sonic the Comic fans we'd arranged to meet on the Saturday night - there must have been about 25 of them altogether (the wonder of the internet) and I stayed talking to people, sketching etc. for three and a half hours. Some of them are turning into really accomplished artists,…

This publishing comics thing is a bit of a lark isn't it? Several weeks back I decided to take the plunge and form Timebomb Comics, and here I am the day before going to the Birmingham show surrounded by boxes of copies of my shiny new comic - Ragamuffins:Stitches In Time - to hopefully wow the BICS attendees with or at the very least sell enough to cover my train fare home. Considering I live in Leicester, three copies should do it. Anyway it's been a frantic, frenetic and fraught several we…

Got my copy of the Beano Annual in Borders yesterday (Yes, I have to buy my own copy! Thankyou, D.C.Thomson). Billy the Cat has printed up nicely. Shame that it had to be split differently than it was written by Kev (so the 'splash' panels are in entirely the wrong place!), but I think it still looks pretty good.
Showed it to a guy promoting Stockton Adult Education Centre who was in the store and got offered a job teaching Photoshop techniques!
Won't b…

Finally the first full length Crazy Mary comics is coming out. It's called "Crazy Mary - Trinity" and it's called that because it's the first three stories colleted into one book with new and bonus stuff and a new cover by Fallen Angel artist J.K. Woodward!
That's right you can sooth you're tattered nerves because you missed these stories spread out over several issues of digital webbing presents and your comic store can cover for it's shame of not ordering the DWP in the first place!…

So, later this year I turn 40. The big four-oh. And I'm still reading comics, and love them as much now as when I was 11. To be honest I love them more now, because I can afford to buy more of them, either brand new ones or those I couldn't afford when I was 11. Comics have changed dramatically in the last 30 years and so have I - that grey follicled, balding man who looks back at me in the mirror is a daily reminder of that. And - get this - the 23 year old girl in my local comics shop insis…

John has put my Spike Companion, which covers D C Thomson's early Eighties title which ran for just over a year, onto the main Down The Tubes site, and has taken the opportunity to add some notes on the artists to it. As with the Red Dagger listing if you can recognise any of the artists currently listed as unidentified then either discuss them here or get in touch with John and the listing can be updated.

Classical Comics has had good coverage about their comic strip adaptations, particularly Henry V, in both the Times Educational Supplement and in the Daily Mail this week. Let's hope sales match the press interest.
Strangely, the Laurence Olivier version of Henry V is on re-release in cinemas this week as part of the British Summer of Film. Could this be kismet?

Contacted by Matt Yeo (editor of Toxic magazine) the other day about a project for which Nigel Kitching and I did a strip many years ago and which we never thought would never see the light of day, namely 'Magpie'. This has been on my website, but is now finally going to see print in Bulletproof Comics No. 1
I'm being sent a copy and will be intrigued to see what it looks like. The artwork is a little dated (I ink everything digitally now), but I think the strip holds up OK still. Will…
