A group for fans of British Comics

Hi all

I'm currently uploading an episode a week of Monster from the old horror comic Scream! on the Back from the Depths blog The Theatre of Terror

I've got the entire of the 13th Floor as printed in Eagle, all the way up to the conclusion about 3 years after the demise of Scream. What's the opinion on me scanning all of these and uploading them on a weekly basis. Are people interested in reading serialised comics online? (especially old kids' ones from the eighties)

Would people want to come back to a website every week to read a new part of the story. Have other people had sucess doing this sort of stuff?

Hi Tim, the main issues are of course copyright: the Misty UK web site eventually went the way of getting a license or getting some kind of official standing with Egmont but still doesn't run a lot of stuff online.

I think there is a nostalgia demand for these strips and there's certainly a lot of material available now, including British comics, on various web sites. Aside from the copyright issue the main issues are ones of legibility -- the page has to be large enough to be legible on a computer screen -- and eae of 'scrolling through' pages.

Great to see 'Monster' -- I hadn't read much SCREAM and there are a few gems in it!

Just had a look at your Doomlord scan - I think 600 pixel width is too small for good online viewing and would suggest 1200 o0r 1400?

OK thanks John, will take onboard the advice for increasing page size.

I've checked a few places where scans of comics appear and it seems most online scans for comics are 1500 or more. Have a look at the Adam Eterno web site (http://adameternoforever.tripod.com/) and see what they do but this Countdown scan is over 1500 pixel width:
